Work permits for foreigners in Serbia

Since 2024, foreign workers receive a single permit for temporary residence and work. We prepare the documents and handle the whole procedure for you.

In short

The single residence and work permit

Since 1 February 2024, Serbia issues a single permit for temporary residence and work instead of two separate procedures. The application is filed electronically only, and it is decided by the police (residence conditions) and the National Employment Service (work conditions).

According to the Government of Serbia, the permit is issued as a biometric document, can be valid for up to three years, and the decision deadline is 15 days from a complete application. The application can be filed by the foreigner, by the employer on their behalf or by an authorised person.

When a D visa is needed

If citizens of a country need a visa to enter Serbia, the worker applies for a D visa for employment before arrival. If no visa is needed, the single permit application is filed after arrival in Serbia. The employer must check the visa regime for the worker’s country.

What we do for you

  • Check the visa regime and requirements for the specific worker.
  • Prepare contracts and all required documents.
  • File the applications and follow the procedure until the permit is issued.
  • Arrange arrival, residence registration and the start of work.
Regulations change. We always confirm the exact requirements for your worker before starting the procedure.
